Joint Live Burn with Croton, Millwood, & Signal 73

On Saturday June 28th, members of the OFD along with members from Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department & Millwood Fire Department’s participated in an intensive day of Live Fire Training. Members traveled to the New Haven Fire Academy in Connecticut with instruction delivered by Signal 73 Fire Training LLC. This training focused on basement fires, effectively stretching hose lines throughout a structure, forcible entry, and VES (Vent, Enter, Search). Members of our FASTeam along with Croton Team members also had the opportunity to simulate the removal of a downed member to sharpen and review RIT skills.

This was an invaluable training opportunity that we are extremely thankful Croton FD asked us to join in along with Millwood. When the situation arises of a structural fire, all 3 of our agencies will work together immediately when the “10-75” is requested. This not just gives us the opportunity to train under live fire conditions, but operate with our mutual aid partners. We hope that this becomes an annual or even bi-annual opportunity for our members.

The instructional staff of Signal 73 was on point with their tutelage. Seasoned professionals that are masters of their craft. We look forward to working with them in the future in other Disciplines.
