| Vehicle Extrication & Stabilization was the topic of July Department Training. We were joined members of the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps & Ossining Police Department as well. Members began with equipment and rig familiarization, Engines 96 & 97, Rescue 14, and Utility 51 all carry equipment in both vehicle extrication and stabilization.
Members then split into groups and went to work on stabilization techiniquea using paratech struts & our Rescue Jacks. While others began extricating simulated victims in the vehicles. The OFD uses both electric powered & hydraulic rescue tools.
FAST training later in the month focused on down firefighter packaging and removal with a highpoint using our bailout window at Fire Headquarters.
**Have an old vehicle that you’re looking to get rid of and is beyond the ability to sell??? Well you can turn that into a valuable piece of firefighting training. Donations to the OFD are not always monetary, we are always looking for other ways and means of training our members with the use of older donated vehicles. An older non-running vehicle can be donated and put to good use practicing vehicle extrication tactics. These opportunities are essential in keeping our members on the cutting edge of new & improved training techniques to save seconds!** ***Please contact our Chief's Office if you are interested in donating a vehicle today!*** |
