This past Friday, we took to the streets in the Annual OFD Firefighters Parade! This year 23 visiting Fire & EMS agencies took part in the bit warm but beautiful summers night march down Croton Ave & Main St. Included in this post is the list of trophy winners from the night.

This years Grand Marshal’s were Deputy Chief’s Donald Farrell (2003-2004) & Mauro Santucci (2005-2006). For many many years, these 2 men have been the Co-Chairman of our Parade Committee. This isn’t by any means an easy task. Last year at the completion of the WCVFA Convention Parade we hosted they both decided to call it quits and pass the torch onto other members to keep the tradition going. Thank You Donnie & Mo for your many years of making sure these nights go off without a hitch!

A few key mentions we have to make concerning this years parade. With the soon to be delivery of the New Engine 100, this will be the last Ossining parade for their current 2001 American LaFrance Engine. We hear it already has a new home for its soon to be future, more to come when the new engine comes into itself and they begin training on her. This was also the last parade for out FASTeam Unit or Rapid Intervention Team vehicle better known as, Utility 51. We will be hopefully seeing its replacement in the next few months. This is a 2022 Chevrolet/Reading utility truck that has served us well since it’s purchase and has gone on to provide much more than just FAST/RIT services.

The Float that was seen being towed by Utility 51 and being staffed by our Junior Corps members was built by hand from members of the OFD. This was done for participation of the Hudson Valley Firefighters Convention “Mardi Gra” Parade back in June in Wallkill. The theme was the obvious “Luck of the Irish” and the OFD took home Best Overall appearing float for this box of lucky charms & pot of gold over the rainbow!

We would like to take the time and thank all that came out and gave our community a show and kept our tradition of great Ossining Parades Alive! We thank the Westchester County Parade Judges Association for their assistance judging all the visiting agencies. And we thank you all that came out and cheered on all of our guests and local heroes!
