Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the State Education Department have become aware of a dangerous social media trend known as the “Chromebook Trend” or “Chromebook Challenge” that encourages students to insert lead or metal items like paperclips, pushpins, aluminum foil and mechanical pencils into the USB port of their Chromebook forcing an electrical short circuit. Spring Joint Seminar

Update on Probie Class 01-2025

The members of the current OFD Probie Class continue to progress. Last night the topic was forcible entry. Students were introduced to the use of “The Irons” & the Hydra-Ram by taking the door on our Firehouse Innovations LI, Inc. forcible entry door prop. The importance of this class is invaluable. FAST on the Croton 2nd Alarm

Shortly before 11:30 yesterday morning (5/7/25), the OFD FASTeam was requested to Croton-on-Hudson for a reported car fire in a garage on Newton Ct. While enroute, Car’s 2332 & 2334 (Chief’s Martinez & Rinaldi), & Utility 51 would monitor radio traffic from on scene units confirming the structure fire with heavy fire showing from the Bravo side. Late Night Roll-Over on the Southend

At approximately 11:30pm last night, the OFD was requested to the area of Lafayette Ave for a Motor Vehicle Accident with a rolled over vehicle. Units arrived on scene to find a Toyota SUV on its side, the operator of the vehicle fled the scene prior to services arrival. Members deployed Rescue Jacks & Cribbing from Engine 96 to stabilize the vehicle.
