Engine 96 along with Rescue 40 from the Port Chester FD would head north to cover our brothers & sisters of Bedford Hills as they laid one of their own to rest. Mark Rutherford, a 47 year past Assistant Chief and a fixture in the community suddenly past away this past week. Mark was a "Gentle Giant" so to speak, the true definition of a gentleman. Retiring in 2020 from the Town of Bedford Highway Department as a Foreman, everyone knew Mark. He was heavily involved in the Driver Training Programs of the BHFD, a leader in the FD Color guard, and involved greatly in their Annual Ham Night fundraiser. A huge void left in the BHFD and to the many who knew him.

As soon as we backed into BHFD Headquarters, we would take in a run for a residential alarm on the Bedford Hills countryside. We would like to give props to the BHFD & the Town of Bedford Highway Department on the send-off fitting for a true public servant. We also would like to extend our thanks to Bedford Hills on their hospitality.
